DOUGH RECIPE FOR BRAID BREAD

Zopf (tsopf) which in German means braid is a traditional Swiss Sunday bread! Butter and milk gives amazing texture and flavor. Eaten at mania even plain!

Ingredients

* 1 kg flour
* 1 tablespoon salt
* 150 grams butter
* 600 ml milk
* 30 grams fresh yeast
* 1 tablespoon sugar
* 1 egg yolk mixed with a little milk for the spreads

Instructions

1. Mix salt in flour
2. We make the cube of yeast pieces and sprinkle over the sugar and a little milk (about 100 ml, is lukewarm and not more than 40 degrees). Allow the yeast to act.
3. In the bowl of flour make a hole in the middle, where we put the mix yeast with sugar and milk. Mix with a little flour and wait about 15 minutes to make bubbles.
4. Meanwhile, melt butter and stir in the remaining warm milk.
5. Pour the milk mixture to the butter-flour mixture and stir.
6. Begin kneading. Knead for about 10-15 minutes, until dough is smooth to prevent sticking. But it should be slightly moist.
7. When ready the dough, cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
8. When inflated to knit braid (more details in the video to tips), cover with towel and let rise for about half an hour
9. Ointment with egg mixture.
10. Preheat oven to 200 degrees
11. Remove and bake at 180 for 45-50 minutes if we do a great braid or 35-40 if we make 2 smaller
12. Allow to cool and enjoy!
